Sometimes a PC that keeps ‘freezing’ may be caused by something as simple as a wireless mouse or keyboard running out of batteries. If you do use a wireless mouse or keyboard, change the batteries before troubleshooting further.
A computer that is overheating can be the cause of freezing and ‘locking up.’ If the CPU fan dies then chances are the CPU is overheating and causing a system lock-up. Check to see if the CPU fan is running. A fan’s ball-bearings tend to become noisy when they are about to expire.
Freezing can be caused by corrupt drivers and hardware failure. Make sure your drivers are up to date.
